From Left Clockwise: Tangle Teezer; L'Oréal Studio Matt & Messy Spray; Soap & Glory Spray On Moisturising Mist; Rimmel London Apocalips in Luna; Laura Ashley Home Candle in Mille Fleurs; Topshop Creme Blsuh in Head Over Heels.

This week I have spent most of my time adding the finishing touches to my bedroom after decorating, meaning that when I come home from uni for the summer, I won't have to live in a bedroom that has had the same decor since I was 13. One of these touches was this candle from Laura Ashley Home. My Mum had actually bought this a fair while ago and gave it to me because she thought it would suit my room, and I love it. I'm not allowed candles at uni (fire hazard blah blah blah) but I adore them, and this one is one of my all time favs. I normally tend to go for the stronger scented candles - I love the strawberry ones from IKEA - but this is a delicate floral scent which is actually really nice, not too overpowering and is slowly bringing me round to idea that it is meant to be spring. Not exactly a beauty product I know, but just had to share!

I bought this when my trusty Rimmel Powder Blush, which had been abandoned over summer in place of bronzer, finally ran out. I had been wanting to try out a creme blush for a while after reading good things online about them and also after purchasing a Real Techniques Stippling Brush, which is meant to be incredible for applying them. This was actually a bit of a random buy, but I am really pleased with it. Topshop Make Up in general rarely disappoints me, but this one in particular was pretty great. It's a lovely peachy pink shade which applies really well, but you have to be careful, because a little does go a long way, so you don't want to look like you have caught the sun! However, overall a great product and I will definitely have to repurchase!

I had read far and wide about the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers, all good things! I was desperate to try it because I'm not much of a lip gloss girl and prefer a matte lip completely. Luna is a gorgeous peach shade (you are probably seeing a pattern here) which has a really creamy texture. Again, you don't need much! I find that using everything on the wand can be slightly overpowering, so personally wipe off the excess first, but other than that I really can't fault this product!

When I left uni, I didn't bring many things home with me because I couldn't carry them all, so this meant leaving my beloved Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter behind. Sad face. However, I had forgotten all about this little beauty. An unopened Christmas present from a couple of years ago, I was a bit sceptical how this would work, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is moisturising and smells amazing, so easy to just spritz on after a shower. It does require a bit of rubbing in, but nothing compared to all the calories I must burn rubbing in the Righteous Butter! Really glad I've found this and I will definitely be repurchasing this for my summer holiday.
I did a full review on this at the start of the month, and I have used it literally every day since. Unless I have decided to properly straighten or curl my hair - which isn't often, I'm lazy like that - I use this every time I wash my hair. I have been in a constant beach waves phase for the entire month. Sadly, it is nearly all gone, but since it is such a bargain, I shall definitely be buying this again - if only it came in a larger bottle! I do think that this has honestly saved my hair from a lot of heat abuse this month and it is looking a lot healthier than usual, to the point where people have been complimenting me on it. I love this product - LOVE LOVE LOVE - and I am sure it will be a firm beauty favourite for many years to come!
Last but certainly not least, this month's other hair saviour - the Tangle Teezer. Not exactly a new product, in fact it has become a bit of a cult beauty own now, but after months of the teeth of my hair brush falling out onto my floor, I couldn't take it any longer and took the plunge - and I've never looked back since. This detangles my hair almost effortlessly; I don't dread brushing it anymore for fear of it hurting, because the teeth are designed to reduce tugging; and I swear it has made it softer in some way. I think that may be me using it in the shower to comb through my hair when it has conditioner in it, so the product is evenly distributed. The only thing I dislike is the lack of handle, so TANGLE TEEZER TEAM IF YOU ARE READING THIS GIVE US ONE WITH A HANDLE. THANKS.

What have your favourite products been this month? Have you tried any of mine?

Leather Jacket - Mango; Spot Crop Top - Topshop Petite; Pencil Skirt - River Island; Necklace - General Pants Co.

I've never been a girl who has been a huge supporter of the crop top craze until very recently. As skater skirts and pencil skirts have become more popular, I have been able to invest in a fair few. I got this one from Topshop Petite in a size S/M but wish I'd actually got the bigger size because although it looks a nice length in the photos, when wearing it I always feel like I'm showing the bottom of my bra! I chose to opt this with a pencil skirt rather than a skater skirt purely for warmth and I feel that pencil skirts are a bit more winter daytime than skaters.
This bank holiday weekend I shall mostly be revising for my exams that are edging closer and closer, but going to spend some quality time with the family and the boyfriend too. I'm off to the Lake District for a week next weekend, so need to get as much in as I can before then!
Happy Easter everyone and have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

Dove Go Fresh Body Wash

Dove Go Fresh Body Wash - Rebalance

I never thought that body wash from a brand like Dove would ever be something that I would be desperate to blog about. However, after being forced to leave my beloved Soap & Glory Clean On Me back at uni, I have now discovered this beauty. Dove have released a number of body washes that are enriched with their breakthrough 'NutriumMoisture', which means that your skin stays softer and hydrated for longer between showers, and with the weather (hopefully) getting warmer, prolonged moisture is important for keeping that tan!
Dove have released these in a variety of scents, each having its own purpose. I am using Rebalance at the moment and have Revive in the cupboard waiting to go, but they also have Burst, Energise and Fresh Touch, so it is just a case of finding what suits you!

Primark SS13 Looks.

Wednesday, 27 March 2013

From left clockwise: Primark Yellow Ombre Dress; Primark Tassle Shorts; Primark High Wasited Shorts; Primark Crochet Top; Primark High Waisted Shorts
Primark Sandal; Primark Studded Racer Back Top.

This summer is going to mark something a little bit monumental for me. I am going to attempt to avoid floral clothing. I have been wearing mainly floral clothing in summer since I was about 14, to the point where I became associated with it. However, this year, I have decided that it's time to change. I am going to branch out from the floral trend and try new things and where else to look for some inspiration than in everyone's favourite cheap and cheerful shop - Primark!
Although, Primark don't have an online store (I would have literally no money if they did) they have released a look book for Summer. My particular favourite is the yellow ombre dress, I love yellow, but it doesn't suit my skin tone that well, so maybe this will be a compromise! I'm also loving every pair of shorts I've included, so maybe there is a bit of a splurge coming on!

So wish me luck in my fight against florals! What trends do you plan to wear this summer?

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer.

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer.

Soap and Glory Kick Ass concealer has recently become an everyday staple in my make up routine. I'd bought it a while ago, but not got round to trying it as I'd never really thought of Soap and Glory as a make up brand. However, I read a few reviews on it and decided to finally give it a try.
The small compact itself is made up of two levels and includes a mirror. There are two shades of concealer, a peach shade to combat purples (dark circles) and a yellow shade to target redness (blemishes). The set also includes a translucent pressed powder to set the make up afterwards.
Since using this product, I have been so happy with the results. Originally I felt it was a bit caky and was worried about the application, but then I started applying it with my fingers instead of a brush, which worked much better as the product warmed up and was much easier to blend.
I would definitely repurchase this product as it has covered my dark circles better than anything else I've tried, and although I don't generally get spots or blemishes, when the odd one pops up this covers it nicely. Obviously, this wouldn't be suitable for all skin types, and darker skinned girls wouldn't be able to use this, which is the only downside. But all in all, a great product and would definitely recommend!

Jacket - Dorothy Perkins (sale); Tee - Ebay; Skirt - River Island; Necklace - General Pants Co.

Finally home from uni now for Easter, which means all deadlines are over and revision for exams is now go go go. It's good to be home, but my room is currently being decorated, so between that and all the stuff I brought home, I'm living in a bit of a bomb site at the moment. It's also snowing like crazy here, guess I'll be chucking on my wellies and winter coat again after all!

Topshop Lipstick in Whimsical

March is well and truly here, and with it we welcome the start of Spring. Well, supposedly, but the snow where I live seems determined to prove otherwise. Either way, it seemed a good time to go and invest in a gorgeous peachy lip colour. I have always loved Topshop's range of lipsticks, because I really like the matte finish they give. After taking a good ten minutes to decide between three shades, I finally went with Whimsical. Whimsical is a peachy, pink, nude shade that I have been wearing so much recently. As with all Topshop lip products, it applies evenly and has a creamy texture, and leaves a great finish. The matte finish does, as with all products, leave your lips a bit vulnerable to looking chapped so make sure you prep your lips well with a scrub and balm first! I use the Lush one, and love it!
So hopefully, Spring will actually start soon and I can start to pair this gorgeous colour with some spring time outfits!

Jumper - Dorothy Perkins (sale); Alphabet Shirt - Primark; Pencil Skirt - River Island.

I have been desperate to get a pencil skirt since it was announced that they would be huge for SS13 and although it is still taking me a while to pick between a few statement ones, I thought I would start out with this plan black one from River Island. It's a great length and not overly tight, which I like - no-one wants to look like they are having trouble fitting in it - and super comfy. This look is great because with the shirt you can dress it smart or casual. For smart, add a pair of gorgeous kitten heels and for casual, chuck on a pair of high tops. And the best thing about the pencil skirt? It suits all shapes!

Amidst it all.

Midi Dress - Primark; Cross Necklace - Primark; Faux Leather Jacket - Mango

I'd never really liked the midi length craze, but on a trip to Primark, something made me buy this dress on a whim. Initially I didn't have high hopes, and thought I would probably return it, but after wearing it a few times, I have come to really like it. Midi dresses are the perfect transitional dress from colder weather into warmer weather, and although this look is definitely lends more to the colder side, it would be easy to accessorise up for spring.

I have also recently been nominated for the Company Style Blogger Awards - you can read all about it here, please take the time to vote! Thanks!

Usually, I don't wear very much make up during the day, so this has become my go to look for quick spring beauty. Soap and Glory Super Eyes Super Eyes

Usually, I wear a lot of eye make up, and I am not one of the good people that apply it without pulling and tugging at their skin to make the product look its best. Add this to ruthless removal with make up wipes night after night, and you have one shameful girl who is not taking proper care of her skin. I can't remember exactly what it was that triggered my obsession with the skin around my eyes, but one day I basically ran out and bought the only eye product I had ever read a proper review for.

Super Eyes Super Eyes is 'Wide Awake Lifting Eye Gel' that boasts instant action and a formula that includes depuffing caffeine, pro-vitamin Panthenol, soothing aloe vera juice and 'fine-line fighting tripeptides'. The product itself is a clear gel, that in consistency looks like it is filled with bubbles. It dries quickly on the skin and doesn't effect applying make up after. I have to say, it does not have the signature Soap and Glory smell, so if you are buying it for that reason, you will be disappointed, but other than that I can't fault this product much at all. At 18, I don't really have any wrinkles anyway, but since using this product for a month, I can see a difference, in that my eyes seem a bit brighter and the dark circles have calmed down a bit. When applied, it does make you feel a bit more awake as well, which is great when I have to run off to early lectures. I'm no expert in eye creams or gels, and I think I am probably a bit too young to be this product's target market, but I like using it and after owning it for a month have barely used any, so I'm confident it will last for a while yet. They do say you should start using anti-ageing products at 18, you never know, I may just hold onto my youth forever now!

For those who follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you will know that my life recently has mainly been about avoiding deadlines and shopping instead. But my deadlines are now upon me and I have no choice but to work my ass off until the Easter holidays now. This doesn't mean there will be no posts for a while, pretty much the opposite, I will be showing you all my purchases with some haul posts and also doing some reviews of the beauty bits I have got recently. Let's just hope I can pass this semester in the mean time!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Sunday, 10 March 2013

First of all, apologies for the sudden gap in posts, I have been pretty ill this week and not really looked the part for taking photos, but I am much better now so we can get back into the swing of things. I purchased the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette earlier this week, after reading about it on like a million blogs. It has become really hyped by bloggers across the world, so I was desperate to see whether it would live up to its name!
The palette is made up of 6 shades: Venus, Foxy, Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint and Crave, all of which are matte except for Venus which has a light shimmer to it, ideal for highlighting. I was originally slightly apprehensive about the matte shades because I was worried it would dull down my skin a bit, but on using them I couldn't be happier with the result. The colours, although light, are highly pigmented, easy to apply, easy to blend etc. I don't use all the shades at once, it depends for what kind of look I am going for. Today I wanted to have a smokey look that meant I didn't have to wear eyeliner, so I used Foxy as a base all over the eye, added Naked 2 onto the eye lid, used Faint in my crease and o n my brows and finally used Crave to outline the eye. I also used Venus just under the eyebrow to highlight my eyes.
Overall, I was really happy with this product, it's so great for a day to day wear look, but can be intensified to be a smokier eye with the help of the darker shades. With a price tag of £20, though I got it on offer for £18, I would say it is a pretty good bargain too, especially when you think consider that you are getting 6 shades, so in my case I paid £3 an eyeshadow. I would definitely recommend it!

Leather Jacket - Mango
Varsity Jacket - University Make
Top - River Island
Jeans - Miss Selfridge
Bag - ASOS
Boots - New Look

This was actually taken a while ago, but I really like the outfit and I really like this photo on the beach. Makes me want summer so much more though! You can't really see the Varsity Jacket very well on this  picture, but I am in love with it. Mine is a University make but Topshop have loads in right now, saying that I can't wait to go the beach without any jackets on!

L'Oréal Studio Matt & Messy Shine-Free Salt Spray

Wednesday, 6 March 2013

I have had my eye on this for some time now, during my quest for finally achieving beach waves hair that looks like Blake Lively's. It cost less than £4 in Superdrug and I have to say, what an amazing bargain. I washed my hair that night, applied it and just let it dry naturally. I scrunched it a little but honestly, barely at all and the overall effect seemed to be all down to the product. It also gives a great matte finish, which sounds slightly odd when describing hair, but I would say the best way to describe it is that it just dulls down your hair slightly, which is great if you are going for the grunge 90s look that everyone is loving right now.

The only downside to the product was the smell when applying, which reminded me slightly of nail varnish but by the time my hair had dried this had disappeared and was replaced by the normal smell of shampoo. It also seems to work better at the back, with the front of my hair looking straighter than the rest, but to be honest, that might just be my hair. The bottle doesn't seem that big but I am yet to see how long it lasts for, so can't make much of a judgement on that just yet. Overall, this is a great product and I would definitely repurchase again and again.

Blazer - Zara
Tee - H&M (old)
Jeans - Miss Selfridge
Earrings - Primark
Satchel - Boutique

Today has been the first proper sunny day of 2013 where I live and it has shown. Everyone is finally ditching the big winter coats and opting for thinner jackets, and while I wasn't entirely ready to take the plunge for thinner outwear, this blazer has given me the perfect in between option. I brightened it all up with the gorgeous pastel satchel that I found in a boutique. Satchels are everywhere right now and I love them, if you are gonna get one, I would suggest a gorgeous colourful one to brighten up everyone's day. Let's hope this sun lasts, it seems to have put everyone in a much better mood!

Lush Lip Scrub - Bubblegum

Monday, 4 March 2013

With the winter cold, lots of people feel the effects on their bodies, on their lips in particular. I personally have found mine getting really dry and chapping a lot more, making it harder to wear lip colour without it looking like my lips are falling apart underneath it. Enter lip scrub. This lip scrub from Lush was less than £6 for the pot, and is made mainly of caster sugar and jojoba oil. You simply rub onto your lips to remove dead skin then, after (the best part) lick it off, which is completely safe because it is made of sugar. I have come to love this product, with it becoming an important part of my beauty routine and I will definitely repurchase, and with other flavours like Popcorn and Mint, it means that there is something for everyone.

Shirt - Warehouse
Crop Top - Topshop
Jeans - Miss Selfridge
Big Ring - Primark
Wishbone Ring - Vintage
Peace Ring - Market Stall

So I got slightly over excited at the sight of some sun yesterday and very much channelled it into my outfit. This shirt was yet another sale find, just over £10 if I remember right. Floral shirts are everywhere for SS13, I like this one because it doesn't have a collar which makes it a bit more feminine. The colours are much brighter than what I would usually wear, but hey, everyone wants to inject some tropical colours in when the sun is out!

Monochrome Floral Jacket
This jacket was an absolute bargain and I absolutely love it. I was reading about a monochrome floral jacket that Beyoncé had worn to an NBA occasion designed by Stella McCartney on Red Carpet Fashion Awards and then the same afternoon, I found this is the Dorothy Perkins sale. It was marked at £15 in the sale, got to the till, it was down to £10 and then with student discount I managed to get this jacket down to £8.50. Could not believe it, so cheap for something so nice and I have seen one in Next since that was £45. Win. Just shows that you will never know what treasures you will find in the sales.

Soap and Glory Shower Gel - Clean on Me
I have been given mini versions of this for years and I would use it up so quickly because I loved it so much, so when this Christmas came and I was given two 500ml bottles I could not have been much happier, it's like a litre of goodness. This shower gel makes me literally look forward to my showers. With the signature Soap and Glory smell, I was already pretty much sold, but it is so creamy and moisturising as well, genuinely not an over hyped product at all. Also, the pump dispenser means that it lasts forever, a couple of pumps on a net loofa is more than enough and can easily cover everywhere. The bottle recommends that you turn the shower off whilst you use it so you don't lose most of the product down the drain and I am a strong advocate of this! I just love this product, so hopefully people keep buying me the bigger bottles for Christmas and Birthdays, then I can just have a life time supply.

Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner - Hello Hydration
I have been using this shampoo and conditioner duo since I started lightening my hair in about April last year because I was worried about it drying out. I cannot rave about it enough, it smells amazing and tropical which just reminds me of holidays; and is so thick and creamy so you can just feel your hair sucking in all the moisture. It does leave hair very clean and I find it does remove any build up of product in my hair, so I don't ever worry about using too much hairspray or anything. The only negative I have about these products is that I know people who used it for a while and it started to make their hair a bit greasy, but this hasn't happened to me so I suppose it just depends on what type of hair you have. Also, I find that Herbal Essences is nearly always on offer somewhere, so it is regularly a bargain for me.

Topshop Eye Crayon - Marble
I have been using this for a couple of months now and I love it. It is a rose gold shade and has a really nice creamy consistency, which applies really well and lasts pretty much all day. It isn't exactly a bright, in your face colour, but it does give a nice subtle base, which can be worn by itself or under eye shadow. I find that this is also a great highlighter for your eyes, so I also put it on my brow bones a lot and in the inner corners of my eyes. I will definitely be repurchasing this when I use this one up - which by the amount of sharpening I do won't be much longer!

Topshop Pink Lipstick - Tease
I have a bit of an obsession for matte lips, I just prefer them so much more to like sheeny lips or glittery ones, not that I never wear my lips like that, but matte is definitely my favourite. I had read on various blogs that Topshop had pretty much nailed the matte lip with their lipstick collection, so naturally I had to see for myself. I decided to start with a nice colourful shade called Tease, which is pretty much just bright pink and I have been pretty happy with the results. It does live up to the hype of the matte lip look and applies well and evenly with a creamy consistency. The colour is bright and doesn't really fade, apart from obviously when eating or drinking etc. This product can be slightly drying on the lips, but from what  have read that it quite common with matte lipsticks, but if you keep your lips moisturised the rest of the time, there shouldn't be a massive problem. I would definitely consider buying other shades of this, I've got my eyes on a peachy shade called Whimsical and another nude-ish shade called Nevada. All in all, a pretty good product, not that pricey and it always brightens up an outfit.

Dress - Zara
Necklace - Primark
Earrings - Primark
Knee Socks - Primark

Okay so there is a bit of theme running through the accessories for this outfit, just shows how great Primark is for accessories, eh? I love this dress from Zara, it's ridiculously cute and is really well made. Unfortunately, it is too small for me these days so I think this will be my last wear of it, which is so sad, but I am sure it will find a good home!
