Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in 080 Strawberry Shortcake
When it comes to lips, pink has always been a colour that I have been cautious to delve into - peachy tones, reds, corals and deep reds pretty much are my collection. However, with pink being a bit of an in colour again this AW13 I thought it was about time to forgive and forget with the pink lips, and finally give it a go. Now, I made no promises to start off bold, but this Lip Butter seemed like the perfect place to start. It gives the lips a sheer tint of colour without going mad. The formula is lovely - creamy and moisturising - and it may just be my imagination but I am getting the scent of a Strawberry Shortcake from it (probably just being optimistic). I dare say this has cured me of my fear of pink and has given me confidence to peruse the aisles of Boots with a bit more of an open mind!

St. Ives 2013

Saturday, 24 August 2013

I have just got back from a week in St. Ives with my family, and had a wonderful time. If you don't know where St. Ives is, it is a small town in the South of Cornwall, which is beautiful. I wouldn't normally share holiday snaps but this place was just too freaking pretty not to share, so prepare yourself for a very photo heavy post and I hope you enjoy!

ASOS Wishlist
1., 2., 3., 4., 5., 6.

So with payday coming around ever so soon, I started having a bit of a nose around the ASOS site to see if anything took my fancy. Surprise surprise, it did. Welcome to a new feature on the blog, not exactly ground breaking, but fun for me nonetheless - Wishlist.
I would say the main pattern amongst these is the transitional garments for Autumn that I can still get away with at the end of summer - think loose t-shirts, smock dresses, cute trousers. Then just to throw you off, there is a big old winter coat in the middle. I desperately need a new one as my duffle coat has seen better days! Love this old school waxy one, but kinda want a pink one? Oooh decisions!

The Bargain: Bumble and bumble Thickening Hair Spray

Elle September 2013 Issue with Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray - £4
Whilst making the annual magazine haul before my holiday last week (I got my count up to 7 this year), I spied this little gem on the shelves. Now I don't normally read Elle - I'm a Glamour or Company girl through and through - but I know a good freebie when I see one and this month Elle are offering a 50ml sample of the Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray. I have already raved about my love for the cult product that is the Bumble and bumble Surf Spray on this blog, but I have never really branched out into any of the other products that B&b has to offer - despite scouring the shelves of the counter in Boots every time I go in. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to give another product a whirl and with the magazine costing £4 you have just got yourself a £7.50 sample for free!

If that isn't enough for you to rip it off the shelf, then the contents of this month's issue just might convince you. Katy Perry is this month's cover,  coming back with a brand new album and single very shortly, there is an interview that promises to tell all on her love life amongst other things. Get your issue while they are still available!

Topshop Illuminator

Topshop Illuminator in Reflect
I am a self obsessed Topshop Make Up addict, so when they released their summer collection of bronzers I ran to store to purchase the Sandcastle shade. However, when I swatched it, it came across pretty muddy and not the radiant finish I was going for. Then this caught my eye. As you can see, Illuminator is a mix of three colours, with a lighter to highlight, a darker to contour and the mid colour for the actually cheek colour. I don't bother with any of that, instead I mix all three colours together on my brush. The finish is a radiant, bronzed glow that doesn't scream tangerine but is more as though you have caught the sun. I apply this on my cheeks, my nose, my temples and then a small amount on my chin. This has completely made up for my disappointment in Sandcastle, and I shall no doubt struggle to put this away when summer ends.

Duo Alert #2: Scandaleyes Retro Glam

Retro Glam
Rimmel London's Scandaleyes range seems to constantly improve on its previous offering. Just as we were coming to terms with our love for the shadow sticks, they release another load of goodies in an attempt to bring back the 60s. The new mascara promises a wide-eyed false lash look, fanned out volume with no clumps, and just like all the other Scandaleyes mascaras, it has delivered. My lashes are clumpless, with length and volume giving a wide-eyed effect. Could not rave about this mascara more.

The perfect partner for this Retro Glam Mascara in order to fully achieve the 60s look, is Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick and Thin Eyeliner. This is one of two new eyeliners they have released in this range, the other one being the Precision Micro Eyeliner which is perfect for a minimal look, but not for the bold eye look of the 60s. The Thick and Thin Eyeliner has a uniquely engineered, precision 3D slanted tip which makes it easier to draw a thick or thin liner, so is perfect for building upon.

Not really sure why my eyebrows keep coming out red on my camera, but never mind!

Origins GinZing Moisturiser

Origins GinZing Energy-boosting moisturiser
Origins GinZing eye cream has been a huge product for so long, so when they released their face moisturiser in the same range I knew I had to have it. Origins have branded it as a shot of espresso for the skin, promising 'instant hydration' and a 'healthy, vibrant glow'.

The first thing you notice when opening the product is the citrus scent. I personally love the smell, it reminds me of lemons and oranges, and really wakes me up in the morning. However, I can see that some who prefer less strongly scented products wouldn't enjoy using this product as much. The formula itself is an oil free gel consistency that works easily into the skin. It is light weight which is perfect in the random heat that the UK have been experiencing recently and a little goes a long way which makes it great value. I have been using it for a few weeks now and can see a difference in the appearance of my skin. My complexion seems brighter and more radiant, to the point where other people have complimented me on it. If that doesn't prove that this is a great product, what else will?

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayons

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Peach on the Beach
Since Clinique released their chubby stick range, there have been what feel like hundreds of dupes not only on the high street but from higher end brands as well. As the craze seemed to be winding down, Bourjois released their offering, which have actually turned out to be surprisingly good.

Surprisingly pigmented, the Bourjois Colour Boost crayons leave a bold, glossy finish on the lips. They don't dry the lips out over time, in fact they actually seem pretty moisturising. Although the gloss doesn't last all day without reapplication, the colour is long wearing on the lips. Peach on the beach is my favourite shade, which is a peachy, pink colour that can be worn day or night with minimal make up or as part of a more polished look. The product also boasts an SPF 15, which make them ideal for holidays and for the summer.

Duo Alert: Stila Convertible Colour and Soap and Glory Glow All Out

Soap & Glory Glow All Out Luminizing Radiance Face Powder and Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium
When summer comes around I tend to embrace the bronzed look whole heartedly, but sometimes there are occasions where the bronze glow isn't entirely right, and I have to dip back into my blushers. Recently I have been loving using these two products together for a nice glowy complexion that summer will still allow. The Soap & Glory Glow All Out Face Powder was a blogger influenced purchase after Fleur from Fleur de Force wrote a great review on it. It really gives a lovely subtle glow to the face and is one of the best high street highlighters that I have tried, and is an absolute bargain. I pair this with a Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium, which is a pale ish pink in the pan but comes out as a nice glowy rose tint on the skin. I normally apply a couple of layers onto the apple of my cheeks before popping the highlighter along the top of my cheek bones. The two together give a radiant finish to the skin, which is enough to impress me!

Bumble and bumble Surf Spray

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray
When summer comes around, this little bottle becomes one of the most loved beauty products of the season. Possibly the best surf spray out there, this product has a huge hype surrounding it and although you have probably read 1 million and 1 reviews on it, here is another one for you anyway.

Since cutting my hair about 4 inches shorter, I have found it a bit more difficult to embrace messy hair, as there really isn't that much of it to mess up. I have always loved the surf effect on hair and this little bottle of magic is the first thing that has managed to keep my hair messy without giving me dreadlocks. It smells amazing and genuinely reminds me of summer. I use it almost every time I wash my hair without fail and can whole heartedly say that I would pay the £20 for it over and over again. Bumble and Bumble have also this year released a surf shampoo and conditioner to complete this range, and as we are heading towards the end of summer I don't think I can allow myself to fork out on the full size bottles, but will no doubt be purchasing the travel pack for my holiday!

Current Love #3: No 7 Stay Perfect Mascara

No 7 Stay Perfect Mascara
As you may or may not already know, when it comes to mascaras I am the queen of panda eyes. Especially when I am tired. So with a wedding to attend, I knew I had to find a way to avoid the impending doom of smudged black mess all over my face. I bought this on a whim at Boots a while ago because I had a voucher for it, but strangely the same day I saw Alix from I Covet Thee talk about it in one of her videos. She said that she had a similar problem with smudgy mascara and that this was perfect. After trying it, I can confirm, this thing does not budge. At all. The only way to remove it is with warm water so it is perfect to just take off in the shower. Although it may not be the holy grail of mascaras in terms of length and volume, which still are impressive for such a long wear product, it does give your eyes a nice lift. I would really recommend this to anyone, especially those who suffer from hay fever a lot in the summer.
