L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara

Monday, 24 February 2014

L'Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara - £8.99

L'Oreal released their latest mascara offering a couple of weeks ago, which an awesome marketing campaign that had people itching to get their hands on the new release. Was it going to stand up against L'Oreal Telescopic and the other great mascaras in the range?

This product has had really mixed reviews. Some like the flexi wand, others don't. Some feel like it gives their lashes all the volume of a manga cartoon, others not so much. In terms of blogosphere, I know Lily Pebbles can't stand it but Alice from I Covet Thee featured it in her last favourites.

I personally have got on quite well with this mascara. It lengthens and separates my lashes as well as adding volume, but although I've enjoyed using it, there are definitely others out there that I prefer. On the whole, this mascara is okay, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing. I think that it's such a shame because L'Oreal obviously put a lot of effort into marketing it. However I look forward to other products for that range, I'm think maybe some cool eyeliners or fake lashes?

Have you tried the Manga Mascara?

No 7 Essentially Natural Foundation

Monday, 17 February 2014

No 7 Essentially Natural Foundation in Calico * - £9.95
Considering that this time last year I had only just started wearing foundation (shocking I know), my little collection of bases is starting to grow and grow - in fact I might do a post on all my favourite base products if anyone would like to see that? Comment below! - and this is one of the latest additions. I've been trialling this foundation for about a month, as I really like to properly test foundations before I post about them.

This foundation is light to medium coverage with a natural finish on the skin which doesn't feel heavy. It also has SPF 15 which is an added bonus for a daytime foundation, which I would definitely recommend this as. I got this foundation in No 7's lightest shade Calico, I did their Match Made service a while ago, which I posted about here if you are interested, and this was the shade they matched me at then. The foundation claims to be for all skin types, which I imagine is true, I have normal to dry skin and found it moisturising enough to sweep over any dry patches, but not too much for oilier gals.

I have really enjoyed using this foundation, and it has been my go to day foundation for the last few weeks pretty consistently. I apply it with either the Real Techniques Buffing Brush or the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, which I find leaves nice even finish to the skin, but I have also applied this with fingers and found it to be just as good. If you want to see an example of this foundation then check out my No Make Up Make Up post or The Lady Is A Vamp look.

This retails for just under £10 which I think is pretty good considering brands like Bourjois have been selling their foundations for a similar price, and considering No 7 also offer the free Match Made service and offer a better shade range I would stick with them. Plus Boots are always doing vouchers for half off No 7 make up so save those little vouchers you get at checkout and you'll get this baby for around £5!

What base have you been loving for daytime recently?

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer

Monday, 3 February 2014

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer in Light - £8.49
I'm really loving brightening products at the moment and this L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer has been a welcome addition to my collection. I don't use it by itself the majority of the time, just because I love full coverage concealers under my eyes first a bit too much. Layered on top, under the eyes and along the top of the cheekbones. I find it really brightens the under eye area and is great after a few too many late nights. I love using this as a subtle highlighter all over the face as well, along the nose and across the cupid's bow and sometimes even in the brow bone. It really is one of the best budget brightening concealers I've tried in a while, but it was a progressional relationship because I didn't like it that much at first. My advice would be if you get this and aren't keen straight away, stick with it and you might just change your mind like me.

Harry Potter Studio Tour

Sunday, 2 February 2014

Recently I went to the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Watford, it was a belated Christmas present from the boyfriend and after a lot of problems with weather and the like, we finally made it down. I’m sure that most of you will have seen pictures of the place, and while it’s not exactly beauty related, I thought I would share a few of my snaps with you all. Prepare yourselves, but this is a bit photo heavy!
