How I Keep Fit

Sunday, 23 March 2014

I cannot tell you how many times this has happened. The Christmas holidays end and you're packing some extra insulation on the bod, then making the same promises to get fit and eat healthy. However something about it this year felt a little different. I was so determined and motivated, more than I had ever been about it before. So I went and bought some shiny new trainers and some other sportswear accessories and cracked on.

The main thing I used to kick start it off was an app, called Nike Training Club. This is available for iPhones but I'm not sure if Android has a version. This app is really amazing and I would definitely recommend it. You can chose a number if options to suit your lifestyle, such as quick start workout when you just need to get on with it, or more specialised and intense 15 minute workouts for specific areas on the body. Another great feature is the 4 week programs, which is what I used. You work out three times a week, twice more intense longer workouts and the third a Yoga workout to stretch out. I lost almost a stone by changing my diet (which I can do a post on if anyone is interested?) and by sticking to this 4 week plan as well as adding in a couple of gym sessions and walking half an hour each way to uni every day.  Unfortunately at the end of my program, I got the flu and the great progress I was making ground to a halt while I couldn't move out of my bed. After some R&R at home I'm feeling a lot more like I want to get back to the grind. I've tried to keep my diet more or less the same whilst I've been sick, but eating became a bit difficult because it made me feel worse.

Now I'm back at it, there are some other quick tips I can offer. The first is to check out some of the other apps in the picture above, they have really helped me. And secondly, that without the right diet, exercise is going to do nothing for you, so eating right is the way forward. AND MAKE SURE YOU DRINK LOADS OF WATER!

How do you keep fit?
